To whomever is interested, please could you help me build a gaming rig.

The budget is R8500. A screen, keyboard & mouse are not required.

Let the suggestions flow :)

Thanks in advance for your time

/in before "why don't you just buy a Playstation"

Also, /subbed :p

@Ponder ... He usually has all the time in the world to google and wootware components. :)

what is your aim for gaming here..? are you anal about squeezing out every last fps on ultra settings that your rig will allow at the highest resolution possible, or are you just looking to game casually and not too worried about high fps on ultra settings..?

your budget is very very tight and getting an all brand new mid range rig, on intel platform, is going to be a stretch.. have a look on carbonite for some second hand components to help stretch your budget..

you could also wait for amd ryzen as it is so far promising bang for buck but this will not to be confirmed by the normal consumer once it is available..

@Hamster - There is always one of you :)

@WAslayer - Not for casual gaming - Mid to High with some sort of future proofing - No squeezing required ;)

@Chevron - Desk

So, what I was thinking, was to buy the most critical items at the highest level possible and leave things which are nice to have's or which could be upgraded when more cash is available in 6-12 months e.g. Decent motherboard with say an I3 and upgrade CPU later etc.

It would be dumb to buy cpu now.

Post your current specs.

Makes no sense, i3 is gonna cost you R2k when you can get an i5-6500 for R2.5k or i7-6700 for R3k. Unless you want to overclock (need a z mb & k cpu) a budget board will do what you need it to do.

Wait a bit to see what Ryzen offers price & performance wise.

That said I still think your budget is too low.
