G.C.G. (Graphic Card Gurus) so, which one would you recommend:

- Sparkle NVIDIA GeForce GTS450
- Sparkle NVIDIA GeForce GTX550
- Sparkle NVIDIA GeForce GTX560

- Asus ATI Radeon HD6770
- Asus ATI Radeon HD6850

All are priced from about R1500 - R2500.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to get a HD6870 in that price range, which would be my recommendation

simple - higher numbers = better.
560 or 6850 if you can get it at R2500

At that price as others have said get the HD6870, if you are prepared to put in like R500 more get one of the cheaper GTX 570's that have been popping up recently as it will blow all those cards out of the water.

The HD6870 is in a very good spot in terms of performance versus price.

I picked my Saphire HD6870 up for a modest price of R2500 about 4 to 60 months ago, you can probably find a MSi model for around R2000 now depending on how good you are at looking. Good places to look are:

Sybaritic
Prophecy (and Carbonite - Prophecy forums for resellers/2nd hand stuff)
ZapsOnline
Landmark Computers
Rebel Tech cc
PostmanPot - A MyBB reseller (one of many)

If looking at the Sapphire models, it might be worth your while to spend the R2500 to get a Vapor X model as the cards with the reference coolers are known to make quite a bit of noise once you ramp up the temps playing a game on high.

A very good website to look at in this case is http://www.hwcompare.com which will detail the graphics cards you need to compare. Once you find similarly priced cards, you can plug them into HWcompare and see what sort of price per performance you're paying, and that will help you make your final decision.

As you can already see above, the HD6870 is very popular, and I myself plan to buy a second HD6870 to get some really great performance on a CrossFire setup.

I ended up buying the following from Zaps:

Radeon Club 6790 : R1600
Huntley 600W : R470

The thing was i was on a budget and wanted a fast graphics card I knew a relatively cheap power supply could handle. It's the sweet spot between a 550ti and 560ti. And it runs silently.

If I had a big power supply might of gone for a better graphics card but for me it's good enough.

Get the GTX560 or the HD6870
Whichever is cheaper.

Or like mentioned above, the GTX570 would really good if you can get it under R2500

Quite simply put. Now if we could only get feedback from OP :)

Well, the there is about a R500 difference in price between the GTX560 & the HD6870. With the GTX560 being the cheaper.
