Hello there

My android phone has an app called YGPS installed.
I did not install this app on my phone.
I cannot unistall it either.

This app has access permission to virtually everything. Using microphone, camera, SD card access, make calls, send SMS etc.

Is anyone familar with this app?
Is it a spyware?

How do I remove it?

Thanks!

Without knowing what phone you have or what version of Android, your best bet is probably to go to Settings -> Applications -> YGPS and select the "disable" option. This won't uninstall it, but it will effectively kill the app unless you re-enable it.

A quick Google search shows that it might not be spyware, but it is possibly just a poorly developed app that has all those permissions so that it doesn't run into error due to missing permissions.

Hope this helps.

I have a Xolo Q3000 with KitKat 4.4.2

Did it come pre-installed with your phone? Rooting may be the only option.

I'm sure it wasn't preinstalled on my phone.
How could it have been installed?

Is there a way for me to root the phone without connecting to the PC?

Is there a way I can see when this app was installed (date)?
It doesn't appear under "downloaded" apps but rather "all". I assume its posing as a system app.
