The dark menu is nice, and it does change the look of the dock, but so many of my menu bar apps become invisible because they haven't been updated to support the theme.

He he! For as long as I've used OSX (since Tiger, IIRC) the very first thing I do on a fresh install is change to the 2D dock. I really don't see the point of having a dock that creates the illusion of being a three dimensional shelf viewed from fairly high up. That adds nothing to my productivity and it wastes space.

Sincere question - but can I ask why do you all use the Dock at all?

What functionality does it present, that requires it to be visible/in use?

I only keep my most often used apps in there to launch them.

Ah - but you could presumably use Spotlight to do that now?

Each to their own etc., obviously, but always found the Dock takes up too much space on my MBP 13...

Have it set to the side, and on auto-hide >> but find it far quicker to use Alfred et al to launch, than to mouse over to the Dock (especially on the external monitor).

I could use spotlight but sometimes the icon is more familiar than the name of the app. :D Plus I can drag items on to the icon to open them - useful if the app isn't set as the default.

I've also got it on auto hide.

I would prefer to set it to auto-hide, but I often run into issues with things I want to click on near the edge of the screen triggering the dock pop-up. So I rather set the dock to 2D, put it on the side, and make it rather small.

Everything is 2D now - welcome to Yosemite…

I don't mind the dock, but what I'm not happy with is the changes in iTunes. How do I see my devices now? They used to show on the left hand side when connect on the same wifi.

Once you plug it in, the device icon appears in the top icon menu on the left. Click on it, and the the side tab appears with your device shown in the usual place.

I don't like this interface change either, and I've let them know via the feedback page (you should too). But this isn't the first time they've messed it up. The last few updates really made things worse for both music and podcast interfaces. It feels like change for change's sake.

Devices used to show up without having to plug them in, we have 5 in total in the house (2 x iPhones, and 3 x iPads) all used to connect when I fired up iTunes.
