I ran the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor on my PC more out of interest than any serious intention to upgrade and almost had heart failure. From the summary it gives you, it first tells me no hardware issues at all
Category Action Required Explanation

System memory (RAM) No action required Your computer has 2.00 GB of RAM.

Then in the next breath...

Review these device issues for Windows Vista
Check the following table for device issues you should address to ensure they will work properly with Windows Vista. Issue Type Category Model Manufacturer Action Required

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT NVIDIA This device will not work in Windows Vista. For more information, please go to the device manufacturer's website, Windows Marketplace, or contact your retailer. "

WTF? This is a brand new card with DX10 support

If you're currently running XP, Vista will tell you your card is dodgy. It will perfectly in Vista, you'll just need to get the latest Vista drivers once complete.

Ignore that crap.

Microsoft still has misguided faith in their own useless WHQL system.

Trust me, the 8800GT is supported in Vista with official drivers, beta drivers and third-party modified drivers. There probably is a WHQL set too, but don't let it bother you if there isn't - it makes no difference.

If you want some decent drivers, go to guru3d.com.

Sounds like a "bug" in recognising the drivers rather than the card.

It will work fine. I'd say they are actually joking, I mean the box probably says "Made for Windows Vista™"

it might have been checking the ability to perform graphic intensive tasks required as opposed to the specific drivers, make, model etc. interesting. Thats MS for you.
