Is there a way - without waiting for the inevitable message - to check the ink cartidge content/status on a printer?

Ag just keep printing blu, don't worry about "Ink levels" too much.

If it's a network printer, it should have it's own html page (similar to your router) that you can view using the same program you're using to read this - and then monitor the status.

Otherwise it should come with enough spare disks to show some lame printer ink level application thingy on your taskbar.

Have you RTFM yet?
 
pick up your printer and shake it. Hear that swishing, gurgling sound? no, not that one... the other one... yes... that means there is juice in your sluice! You're good to go... five by five, a for away, keep on truckin!
