That seems to be the most you can get out of the thing yes.
The graphics side is totally proprietary, surprisingly nobody has moaned about that yet.

There are much better (more powerful and truly open) alternatives in the same price bracket. Glad I didn't waste my bucks on this over-hyped thing.

Mine was doing yeoman service as a media player until a couple of weeks ago - now looking to setup as a linux distro machine to replace the laptop that is doing that duty - just need to find the time to do it.

Looking at doing digital signage for a sports club. (Already did a test run with this (Screenly ) - and it works beautifully
Also looking at streaming live video (wireless) from the camera module to a TV. Pi and TV will be in separate rooms.

I usually have all of these on a box then only open up ssh on that other vm/machine. Once opened a ssh i tunnel. Another way is with vpns

My pi is currently running as a pptp vpn server (Don't try and spin the security story!), and a web server (LAMP). Going too get myself three more, one as a Print server - Why not? I know windows can do this fine, but I need more linux in my life! one as a xmbc system, and the other I'll use as a tinkering toy, to see to what extremes I can push this little thing.
