Your Raspberry Pi Projects

I'm currently using my RPi 4 to make my TV smart.
Using Libreelec with the kodi DStv add-on and the Jellyfin add-on.
Works really well.
Controlling it with an osmc remote
Would you mind posting some guides / links to guides.
My Mission was failure last night with the new Pi4 - DSTV not supported, Cast not supported lol

Are you guys running any additional block lists on AGH?

This shows the custom ones I have added.

Then there is something about adguard that could be annoying. I found when my internet went down during the last part of loadshedding slot, that adguard started failing to serve internal dns requests. Highly annoying.

But you can disable the following to get rid of that annoying behaviour:

Been running one in the cloud for months, Yesterday set iup locally for the folks
main reason... Ease of use - also what is not being mentioned here is the ability to use DNS-over-QUIC
Out of interest, what are the costs associated with running this in the cloud and which provider did you use?

Sure.
No guides really but I'm using the DStv now kodi addon by slyguy.
There is a whole thread on mybb about that. You do need a dstv login thought.
I am also using iptv merge for show info and times. More info in the other thread.

Then I am using the jellyfin.org media center where I store all my media with their kodi addon to stream all my media to my server.

And that's about it!

Not strictly speaking rasp, but fyi Zimaboard kickstarter is going live in ~1.5 hours

In some ways more interesting than a rasp 4 - it's x86 and dual gigabit eth

Not exactly sure what makes this thing special- what am I missing? (serious question)

Having an x86 architecture makes it easier to work with. You don't need to have stuff compiled specifically for ARM so there could in principle be a lot more software available.

Dual gigabit ethernet is nice as well, because you can either bond them to make a faster connection e.g. for a NAS, or you can use it as a router.

For some tasks eg pfsense firewall most devices are easily twice as expensive.

edit...signed up for the quadcore/8gb one. Kinda surprised that the 8GB one is moving faster than the 2GB one

How would this stack up to something like an Intel NUC?

NUC will be significantly more powerful. This is passively cooled, smaller form factor and significantly cheaper. Not really geared towards power.

This is really more of a niche device

Anyway...sorry for the derail.

Jellyfin looks interesting. Have you ever used Emby? Wondering how they compare or if there's any reason to switch. Considering setting up a new media server soon, as I'm getting sick of Netflix's limited library - my old one had Emby which seems to do everything this does, but I'm always keeping an eye out for better options.

Edit: NVM, figured it out. Emby went semi-closed / pay for some features. Jellyfin forked it to keep full functionality free. How's the stability? Do you use sync it with your Kodi library?
