Your temu orders

Got my first 'marine departure' tracking notification. I would think any boat would take weeks to get here from China.

Yes, brace yourself for delivery early 2025. Or search the thread for other posts about it

Well, they do offer a full refund if not delivered within 30 days, so I'm guessing they will try to deliver within that time frame.

My personal orders have been on the website, not the app.
So I never really knew what you guys were talking about when you mentioned the fish and the spinning wheel...

Anyways, my gf installed the app on her phone.
It said 3 free gifts.
Then you spin some more then it says 5 free gifts.
Then it says "special unlocked get 100% back" and you have 2 minutes on a countdown to select items that are supposedly free, since it said you get 100% back.
Next thing, I've ordered a bunch of clothes for my gf in record time, expecting some kind of cashback.

Turns out I just paid for a bunch of overpriced shirts and panties and there is no 100% back.

Then to top it all off it says I can only claim one gift per day. And it apparently depends on going though being scammed every day.

Anyways, what I've learned is that my original method of scanning for low prices on the website and ordering those is far superior to this BS spinning wheel app crap.

Skynet finally delivered my package. The NC160A 2.5K IPS Portable Monitor - and it was well worth it. With the R800 fishland voucher it came to under R1100 + R200 taxes. It is lightweight, and came with all the cables (USB C-C and UCB C-A and Mini HDMI) and has a casing/stand and speakers as well. The IPS is good and clear (better than the displays of Dell Inspiron/Toshiba Dynabook level laptops) and I love having the 2560x1600 resolution. I think I will enjoy reading pdf magazine on it since it is about A4 size. Only missing touch functionality, available on some of the lower resolution displays on Temu.

How do you think this would work with a cellphone?

I'm looking for something simple to pair with my phone - for remote work - I already have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Currently using a 10" tablet - but - its showing its age. This might be a neat solution thats sort of future proof for a few generations (of cellphones)

Yes it will but the USBC-C will be powering it directly so could kill your battery. I did not have a good chance to test. I am running a 6+ year S9 with an already flaky USB port and original battery. When I connected directly yesterday DEX was starting but the attached screen was quickly draining the battery from 23%.

It does support it, so would need a powered 5v3A supply ideally.

The screen with HDMI to Mini HDMI (and USB A-C power) did not allow more that FHD, but that could be that the HDMI port I used (on a USB C hub) did not support the 2.5K resolution. Direct USB C-C gave me full 2.5K support.

I am really happy having tested some PDF magazines (and reddit threads), only annoyance on portrait mode it cannot stand on its edges - ports and controls on opposite ends, so needs a mounting arm or bracket.

Couldn't you use a USB C hub plugged into a battery bank and both the screen and device to keep everything powered up?

So when is the import duties supposed to go up? Last 2 orders, one of R514, duties were R95, and on a R1300 order it was R98

My last order was R116 on R430 so it seems it varies, though I did have some tech stuff

My last two orders have increased significantly from an average of 11.67% to an average of 17.42%

Anecdotally the more expensive rates are on Buffalo packages.

Does anyone know if you order a large quantity, we talking 100 items large, do they only charge the tax on one of the parcels for the entire order?

They split my order into 10 packages, but one with ten units at a value of R160 has a tax value of R500.

How do you know it's been split into 10 orders? Do you have 10 tracking numbers with each of them at different stages of delivery?

If I had to hazard a guess it would be that the courier is shipping them all as one package and the customs you've been charged is for them all.

2 of my orders were split

Paid customs on both

Delivered withing a few days of each other

I have this showing as 11 different packages

Compare the status of the tracking numbers
This appears to change between each package. And three are with fastway, the rest with buffalo
