Your temu orders

The ClaimCredit train is still running relentlessly, I got offered another R2460 off R2650 last night, fortunately I was only short R170 credit that I had to pay in. At this point I'm in for roughly R5k spend for the R12k's worth of stuff I've bought and I will still have R2600 credit to spend after I've claimed all the credit on the latest order, not bad.

Third claim credit order just placed.

How does it work if you go over the max credit back advertised?

What do you mean by that, you just claim back whatever they were offering at checkout?

When you order there's a little bar along the top up to the claim back amount. My last one was R1700. If I keep ordering beyond that do I get more credit or is it hardcapped at the amount they say?

I can't recall exactly but for an order of :
R1477 you should get R20 (of the first R200) and R913.90 (70 % of the R1477-R200)
R2400 you should get R20 (of the first R200) and R1540.
Above that you get 230% of anything above R2400, so say R3545 = 230% of R1145=R2633.
Giving R20 + R1540 + R2633 (capped at 2460) = R2460 back on order of R3545.
Playing around with my cart right now R2792 gives me the R2460 back.

Of course if you are checking out within the initial hour they may gave been giving 560% back over the R2400, so there you may spend less to reach the threshold for the maximum amount. My first order in October of R1340 with 860% gave me about R1800 back (inexact figures and threshold)

It depends on the actual promo they offer you but normal there is a higher hard cap.
I just add as much as needed to pay as little as possible, which is typically a pretty big order but they show you how much you will be paying after claiming all the credit back with your current cart. Also check out in the first hour to get the maximum back. For the R2460 Claimcredit you need to spend R2650 to get it so I just make sure to juggle my cart till it’s just over R2650.

It’s interesting that Temu shipments are still by and large getting the 20% treatment from customs if the order has no clothing, I’m not complaining though.
This is from a recent article:

"The loophole to which Takealot referred was a customs concession implemented in 2007 to streamline the import of low-value parcels into South Africa.

It specified that any parcel below R500 was taxed at a flat rate of 20% rather than attracting regular duties and 15% VAT.

However, the South African Revenue Service (Sars) intervened following complaints from local retailers, adding 15% VAT to the flat 20% duty in September 2024.

This formed part of its plans to align South Africa’s customs regulations with World Customs Organisation (WCO) import guidelines.

It planned to reconfigure the 20% flat duty to align with the WCO in November 2024. However, the changes were only implemented in February 2025.

It is these changes about which Takealot and others have raised questions regarding how well they are being enforced."

I think their year is off, it's more like 2017. South africa has some crazy high import tax rates, especially for tech, to encourage dev in the country and people would just lie about their invoices. de minimis was meant to claw back on some of the lost tax by making it easier for sars and consumers but then temu and shein popped up and gamed the new system so it's being phased out.

What's the current wait time on GFS deliveries? I ordered on 14 Dec and it looks like it hasn't even left China yet.

My 14 Dec order is "Air freight loading" as of 20th Dec and my 20 Dec order is still "Picking"

I've ordered once and then got the full credit, 2nd order went in using the credit and I'm now on day 3 of claiming the full credit... how many rinse repeats can one do if this?

Don't ask those questions. Just smile and wave and keep the delivery guys busy.

IFirst streak of 5 orders between 04 and 18 September, a couple at R1240 max, and two at around R460 max. There were some offers requiring min spend of R3700 and R2700 aprox but it sounded dicey, and I did not trust the promo then.

It returned on the 05th Nov, and up to 19th Dec I managed 9 orders (starting from max R840 and 3 offers of R2460 back), often I waited to collect the credit claimed to reinvest into the next order. I first hit R2460 on the 6th December, the 6 prior being up to R1240 max credit back. I had my 4th offer of R2460 on the 20th and skipped it as I used nearly all claimed credit the previous day. Looks like it ended for me yesterday. Oh well, had a good run.

For sure I could have had 10 orders, possibly up to 14 if I had been ordering every 7 days starting the 05th and 6th Nov.

My orders (looks like they've been combined) have now progressed to airfreight loading.

I was though able to do another claimcredit order this morning. Can't complain too much if its essentially free.

I just get a message that the promotion has expired

Claimed my 7th day of credit this morning, checked the app now and got the popup for another Claim Credit

Placed another order for R2714 worth of stuff and only had to pay in R196.

Last order the taxes were 11% so I hope it's around the same again this time.

I have 2 more days of claiming left... hopefully I get another offer.

No more Claimcredit for me, "The activity has expired" and I have R2500 credit available to use 😞
Is there anyway to nudge it back to life or will it eventually wake up again at some point?
