Your temu orders

My first order arrived today, not too bad of a turnaround time from China … I was very surprised to discover that the parcels are transferred by flight, I thought they packed them on a slow container ship lol.

Let’s put this straight: it’s cheap, and you get what you pay for. This is NOT one of those “gee how did they get so much quality into something that cheap?”

I’m kind of a product snob so it’s hard for me to be objective here, but I’m not unhappy with the experience. Everything works, which is remarkable enough at that price point.

I got a rechargeable LED torch for R33, for crying out loud. Should I be surprised it’s entirely plastic? The thing even has three modes (bright, dim and flashing) AND you can zoom the head to make the beam cast wider or narrower. Is it gonna blind anyone on the moon? Hell no.

The drone … flies. It didn’t come with the three AA batteries required for the controller. The app it needs is in the Apple App Store, and immediately connected when I got my phone to join the WiFi network. The camera feed to the phone is pretty clear and responsive. I flew it a bit, crashed it a lot, and blamed the crashes on the cheap drone’s instability. Of course I did.

The fast wireless charger charges my iPhone and Apple Watch wirelessly, and has a jack for my wireless earphones too. Will see if I am happy with it after a few nights of use.

The projector thing works. And has a remote. And six colours. And … all that for R88. It’s not great for me but my step-son loves it and fell asleep with it going. Money well spent.

The humidifier I haven’t gotten around to yet.

So ja, I have another parcel with 15 items coming, should be here next week I’m guessing. That was a whole different range of items, from hoodies to kitchen gadgets … will moderate my expectations.

The biggest issue I have with Temu is there don’t seem to be any well-known brands on there, or none that I can recognise anyway. But I gotta salute the business model that can deliver cheap stuff all over the world and it’s still cheap when it gets there.
Noice!

ive been scratching but dont seem to find any wireless options above 15w, does it exist?

on the + side of the size, its discreet and can be hidden in plain sight

On my second order. Found some brackets that I just happened to be looking for that I wasn't able to find locally.

Also for some reason I've always wanted a thermal printer.

Check that seller name... Now 98% sure some or all of the "shops" on Temu are just fake fronts.

That actually slowed the machine down :) for older games or applications, so yes it did actually work. So does the button to close lift doors, the one that may or may not work is the button to press at a traffic light for walk.
All the pc's from that era that I came across always had the button in.

Yeah cause a lot were wired that pushing it in gave you your full speed hence Turbo :-)

A thermal printer for R183?!

It's obviously only a toy but I'm hoping it's hackable. I see Takealot has them too but for 50% more.

On that topic, what have you found so far more than 16x cheaper on Temu vs Takealot? Call it 15x after taxes.

So R 2 vs. R 35 per unit. I am embarrased to say I paid even more than that for the TaL listing. Pre-Temu of course. So probably the last small unbranded crap I ever buy from Takealot.

I ordered a couple of these, got a warm and cool white. Tried them once in a powerbank then tossed them in a draw. They are gimmicky but work just fine

Think they were cool white. Problem is the powerbanks I hoped to use them in, the button will turn them on but not off again, so you have to unplug. Super annoying, so mine are also in a drawer.

This is really getting additictive but except for the R7 pineapple, I can't really fault my purchase this time.

I'm guessing the pineapple tool is the size & weight of a Christmas cracker gift? It probably turns up in the Woolies ones.

As for gloves & socks if the material's not even thinner than expected well done!

Yeah, not holding my breath about pineapple tool but it is R7 so not a big deal - and I think that is the appeal of this site. At times, things are so cheap that you don't mind. It is not right attitude of course as we still lose money but just stating how I think these days.

Having said that, I am yet to be completely disappointed in 3 temu orders received so far. Items were exactly as I had imagined and except a peeler that was very thin and it comes off now and then, nothing to find fault as yet. Peeler was R23. Oh yeah - other was some small rotary blade pack and it was my fault that I didn't check the size. It is very tiny and I need to figure out if it fits in one of the tools I have.
