Your temu orders

Twice, I went wild buying home automation equipment and arduino kits that came to just over R52k. Second time was buying lego kits and RC stuff that came to slightly more. Both of those orders sat at customs for more than a week whereas all my lower amount ones have sailed through.

You should try shopping on the US version. I spent almost $7k on a Temu mini-excavator for the farm :X3:
Are you in the US not South Africa?
What duties did you have to pay on the R52k order?
Think my last order of R1150 I paid R214 in customs and duties. About half the value was textiles, and the rest some toys and bicycle parts.
Dodged a bullet with those low duties and textiles!

I split my time between living in the US, Taiwan, Thailand and SA but only shop on Temu when I'm in either the US or SA and it's interesting to see the differences in the offerings.

The R52k order was in May last year and duties came to just under R8k.

US duties are same as SA duties?

I ordered a pair of sneakers from Temu for R162.

Yesterday, I had to pay R76 in customs charges before my order could be delivered.

So basically, from now on, whatever price I pay, I’ll just add 45% as customs tax.

i'm not 100% sure of this but from what i remember reading in the past - the customs charges are split up into taxes and tarriffs - so the tarriffs on clothing is AFAIK 40% - but on other items the ad valorum (duties) value is only 7% and then on top of this you will add VAT of 15% ..... it doesn't always work out exactly to this but its close enough because me and my buddy always order stuff together and when its only electronics items and accessories we only spend like R70 to R80 on those customs charges but add in a jacket or some sneakers and shirts to the order then it becomes like R300 to R400 on the customs charges - so its only the clothing that attracts the bigger charges and the other stuff not so much - however there isn't a universal formula for knowing what the customs guys are going to charge you and why from my experience

Was gonna say it should charge via wireless

you were right - i was placing the case in the wrong position on the base of the wireless charger - when i place it correctly at the correct end of the base it does charge and i was being a total clueless moron - i reread those posts on reddit and they were regarding third party protective cases covering the Samsung original buds cases - which could prevent the charging from working - so i need to check properly instead of relying on knee jerk reactions ..... its working perfectly now - the three in one charger works exactly as it should, though i don't have a galaxy watch but for now i can charge my phone and buds 3 together off one single charger connected to the wireless unit ..... if in the future i do get a galaxy watch (or any android smart watch) with wireless charging capability i can charge all three items in the one unit all connected to a single wall plug 😉

Not all watches charge the same sadly :-( one of the reasons I went back to a traditional watch, it just works :-)

R369 tax for R2k order, two bags, another r36s clone, 16" portable monitor and a Android/Apple extender. So lets see

what 16" portable monitor did you get? I am curious because its around R2k for that plus the other items

Vouchers to knock down prices help a lot.
I managed to get 2500 worth of stuff for R1200

How did you manage that?
The vouchers they typically offer if you place a small order works out to roughly 30% off

you get vouchers up to R4000 off, so every time you add an item, it checks what the value is and removes the voucher and so on, The more I kept adding the more vouchers it kept using up, when getting to 2500 it went down to R1200 or so which it wouldn't add anymore after that.

Is there a way to chose buffalo over Fastway when ordering? I've noticed that it takes 10+ days longer each time Fastway handles the shipping.

I'm surprised to see at this late stage of the game they have actually upped the discount that they give with their make an order of 4 items and get R4000 worth of vouchers, they used to be a maximum of 33% off the previous times I ordered, the last order being a few months ago but the ones I just got now start at 50% off and there's lots of them.
Trumps tariffs working to our advantage?

But with a minimum order value of R400 that I currently have how do they expect you to use the R100 and R200 min spend vouchers?
Temu scamming again 😠

Locals bust for reselling cheap Temu undies as expensive handmade lingerie. Customer says Lingerie Dolls SA abused and blocked her after she claimed her pricey purchase was a Temu markup.

Local company Lingerie Dolls SA has been rumbled for attempting to pass off cheap factory-made sexy underwear products as its own handmade, sewn-from-scratch expensive lingerie.
