Right, so instead of buying that Chinese product from Temu or 'Shien', I will pay R200 more and get the same thing from Takealot which someone has inevitably gotten from there in the first place.

Temu have started using a local warehouse so those taxes will be bypassed and new laws to protect Takealot scammers will be drafted.

I feel their prices are more on certain items that are "local". Also there is a shipping fee but none the less, it's good to have local warehouse for large items.

Only reason to buy local is if it's actually manufactured locally.

Buying local from somewhere that just imports from China and selling at inflated prices does absolutely zero for the economy.

I just spent another R60k on Alibaba only because what I need is not manufactured in SA and the sellers that do sell the product locally, imports the exact same product and sells it for double and even triple the price.

Mine has a legit rare earth magnet but unlike the original they copied they stupidly used this pretty thick foam to make the finger which does reduce the ability to feel things with your finger.

I’m am getting a little bit tired of half assed stuff from Temu, seemingly near everything has been made with little foresight or quality control, I feel a bit scaly returning like a third of an order because it’s trash but at the same time if the seller can't be bothered to do any vetting or quality control and misrepresent the item in the listing then maybe they deserve it, the buck has to stop somewhere

Have had some legit purchases and some total BS items. It is what it is.

The other day i ordered 2 x hardcase carry boxes for my new drone. On the same order. One blue and one black. WTF???
The items are proper tho.

Also ordered 2 x hand sandblasting guns with some sand. And fsck knows why. I cannot remember what I planned on using them for.

Another couple of gems I have ordered for some unknown reason.

Replacement wheels for the kids Razor scooters. They always getting flats.

Mostly Glass jars but other equipment I need from time to time.

I used to get these glass jars from Bonpak but two months ago they informed me that they will no longer be selling the small one.



Last week they contacted me saying that the big jar they will also not be selling and they only have 400 in stock. I took their last jars in this design.

They sent me the jars in the box they get them from China.



I imported before but need to buy thousands of jars at a time to make it viable and it takes 2 to 3 months to get here.

I also buy thousands of honey dippers. I just ordered another 10 000 honey dippers. They come with my branding on the dippers done in the factory. I went through 3 000 of these in July alone and have yet to find anyone that make these locally at the volume I need.

Sometimes but I have most of what I need when it comes to working equipment.

Just an example below.

This is from a local beekeeping supply shop. Almost everything they sell is imported from Alibaba and sold locally at 3 to 4 times the price. They buy in bulk and ship in containers at a time so their landed cost is a lot less but they still sell it for double what it would cost me to bring it in even with me buying a single item and shipping by air.

I have my own shipping agent in China I use so everything gets sent to them and gets consolidated and shipped DDP to my door.
