Your top args to date

Of course we are talking about top down action action role playing games and not something like border lands.

Now from the top of my head looking at my steam lib and other...

• Diablo1/Diablo2 - it is just the granddaddy and I'm super biased towards diablo and it's lore. /pats arbooks, storybooks and some other fluff. haha.
• Diablo3 ROS - D3 vanilla was ****, but reaper of souls saved it.
• GrimDawn - enough said.
• TorchLight - good enough for a fling on the side, same I guess for TL2
• Path of exile - god... the ****ing madness for chaos orbs. Loved the build simulation but hated the grind and regrind for gear perfection riding on currency.

I don't know, have not given this enough love yet:

• Titan Quest
• Adventures of van helsing
• Wolcen
• Warhammer 40k Inquisitor

you did warn us - from your list above I've played all of them except for Van Helsing and none of them 'grabbed' me like Diablo did - I even enjoyed D3 Vanilla - none of the others captivated me - no idea why though - Diablo just has/had (it's a bit too dated now in 2021) a combination of elements that sucks me in for hours at a time.

I really tried hard with PoE but it just felt too 'primitive'; the others on the list all just felt too cartoony and, I think, the story was just too weak to keep me playing.

Never played Van Helsing - there was about a 10 year period in my life where I didn't have the time to game (more or less between Warcraft III and Diablo III)

The only other game of this type that I enjoyed as much was Dungeon Siege OMFG! - I loved that game
