Andy told me that adding ice to a whisky locks down the flavour and aroma, thus making it "dull". Whereas a dab of water ( distilled ) will open up the flavour and aroma ( specifically for cask strength )

When I was working in Africa and hot countries I used to keep my blended whiskies in the fridge.
This makes sense. I would rather keep it chilled in a fridge than add something to my whisky.

Other. I prefer to be comfortable.

Always just added ice and didn’t get too stuck on the dilution idea.

But always wanted to try those whiskey cubes.

I like it slightly chilled but I hate it diluted so I add a single block of ice just to get it a bit cooler than room temperature.

I've been looking at those cooling stones but the reviews I have read seem to be a mixed bag of for and against. It does not have to ice cold. just a bit cooler than room temp. I only drink Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey (I like it when it has plenty of rye and it is on the strong side flavour wise and I have found that slightly chilling it brings out the flavour.
