Anyway, I was referring to your Spanish fanboism/cult worship and the fact that you probably were having a siesta, but if you think it was aimed at your intellect... well who am I to argue?

I agree somewhat here.

I think it's more a combination of things that result in the youth system deficiencies. I think that with the amount of money being pumped into the game, there is less patience in developing the talent or more focus on the results and how well you do over in a season, for the fans - for the revenue. There is pressure to go out and buy the finished article than wait, 3-4 years to get a decent squad of youth team players coming through into the first team - it is definitely the case with the top teams in England.

Then with the smaller teams, you have the bigger clubs from all over buying their talent - Smalling from Fulham to Man Utd is one high profile example as was Ramsey a year before. It's getting harder and harder to compete financially, so the smaller teams have no option but to sell their best talent, who go to bigger clubs and warm the bench for 2-3 seasons cos of the established players holding down the positions, it's a vicious cycle and the game is definately suffering in most quarters.

Bollocks. You're working on the assumption that the big clubs never had any money to spend and were therefore obliged to bring in through the youth team. Again - rubbish. United have a long and proud history of developing youth - not because of Fergie, but due to Sir Matt "Sir Awesome" Busby. He practically invented the "grab the best schoolboys and mould them into United material" system (that United use to this day) in the early 50's. I mean honestly... now that United (as an example) can't get the Beckhams/Giggs due to the restrictions, and they still want the best youth team possible, they will obviously go to where they can find the creme de la creme.

This is a valid topic, yes there are no notiable youth coming through the system perhaps we don't know them or see them being developed...

There are about 8 guys in the united squad which I have no idea how they play, what they do in the reserves... but who's to say there aren't any? United did win the Reserves league by a 6 point margin and 11 goal difference against the other reserve teams...

I didn't know wtf Foster was till he was dubbed to be the new united keeper last year - yet he sucked and FAILED when given the chance... What about United's other youth keeper Ben Amos and Tom Heaton?

There's also Chris Evans don't forget Johnny evans was also from the youth...

I agree with what you're saying - and what I have said in my post had nothing to do with the fact that 'the big clubs never had the money and were obliged to bring in through the youth team'. I am very much for either end of the spectrum.

I was merely laying into a possibility of why there aren't enough quality youth team players making the breakthrough into the 1st teams in the EPL.

Again, I think we're misunderstanding each other here, as I understand your response perfectly, but it doesn't seem to be in response to what I've said.
