YouTube launching games

YouTube is testing Playables — a feature that gives users access to a range of games — with its Premium subscribers to incentivize users to pay for the service, Droid Life reports.

Playables is a standalone section of the YouTube app or desktop website that lets users play various card games, and some Premium subscribers have received notifications from YouTube telling them how to enable the feature.

Works via a VPN. Nothing to write home about though. I wouldn't say any of these games would tip anyone over to getting YT premium.

I'm still waiting for my adblock to start working again.

Good grief... why? Are the Premium people that bored?

Yea pretty much, they initially marketed YT Red (Now premium) as having exclusive premium content with a secondary benefit of seeing no adverts on the rest of youtube, the red/premium side of YT is now a deserted wasteland and people only get premium to block the adverts or get rid of the YT nag screen....

The whole thing is a wasted opportunity for them, imagine if they filled Red/Premium with series and movies instead of wasting million on youtube creators all ready making billions to release sub par content for it?
They could have competed with netflix, and paid for Youtube, two birds one stone and people would actually view the service as being worth wild instead of annoyance.

I guess their trying everything now to make the service look like less of an annoyance and failing at it as they dont want to invest any further in content.

Edit: Just checked and the youtube red content was so bad they removed it from the home screen its now hidden under "Youtube Originals" and its absolutely terrible, here is a list of "premium" programming https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_YouTube_Premium_original_programming

Why bother with all that and the problems it comes with. Let the content creators spit out unoriginal garbage, or take risks on something new and then youtube can profit from selling it's adblocking service.

Cause some high exec in YT needs to justify their existence at the company so they come up with these BS services and half assed attempts ....

I will not be able to play any of youtube games due to it will be full of advertisments and add spyware. Whene you you buy a game from youtube it will be abandoned in 3 years.

Are the games also gonna buffer and stutter like the rest of YT in SA?

I don't want to pay for all this kak I don't use.

Same way they need to unbundle Youtube Music.
