YouTube pulling ads from controversial videos

One of my favorite guys on youtube

I actually saw that video Buckley is referring to beforehand and also thought it was bulls**t that the guy is claiming it's censorship.

I don't think many viewers will complain about less ads.

Oh and speaking of ads, I was watching a few videos on my phone and instead of an ad showing there was a po-up survey :wtf:

I don't see why an advertiser would care what video follows their ad as long as it was shown to the viewer :wtf:
 
So what would be classified as controversial?

Any thing that attacks religion or politics etc...?

I'm actually a bit disturbed by this move cause it means that people approaching specific topics that might offend some will not deliver content cause they can't make money.

Since when does people's feelings matter more than rational facts?
 
I don't see why it's such a big issue. Youtube has to appeal to advertisers. They wouldn't throw so much ad revenue away right now unless they felt such a policy would bring in more ad revenue in the future.

And let's not forget that anyone can organise their own advertising and include it in their videos. And not a cent would be shared with Youtube, whilst Youtube provides unlimited storage and bandwidth for your business.
 
Among the reasons YouTube might give for removing ads from a video is sexual humour, inappropriate language, and “controversial or sensitive subjects and events”.

Take those away and all you are left with is cat videos.
 
There are loads of YouTubers who make a living being controversial, obnoxious, etc. Even bad language won't be tolerated now. Yes, they can continue to post what they want, but without the ad revenue they'll be losing a huge chunk of their income. Not all YouTubers do product reviews or have ad spots. This will probably force them to now include a preroll of some kind to make up the deficit.
 
Apparently this was already the case, it's just now YouTube is communicating it better to their users.

Very bad video. Of course it's censorship. News channels like seeker daily and the young turks have had videos pulled. Even etc news that only sometimes covers 'real' news have had videos pulled.

You should be complaining. Everyone should. And a lot of people have.

Cutting their income removes their ability to sustain themselves. Many of the more professional channels have Many hosts, editors, producers, sound engineers and more that all need to be paid.

You're living in fairy land if you don't consider this censorship.
