Hi Guys

Is anyone else been having kak the last 2-3 days with the za ubuntu mirror?

I have switched my sources list to the normal archive.ubuntu.com its slower but I can at least get stuff done

Just wondering if it's just me...

Desktop user here: I have been experiencing the same and even after changing everything za to us in etc/apt/sources.list still apt was looking for za mirrors for some updates and reporting error. It has been horrible. For the time being I am using Opensuse Tumbleweed hopping to go back to Kubuntu when za mirrors behave well again or when I know how to completely change mirrors in Ubuntu.

Some strange onservation here, that when VPN is on za ubuntu mirrors are working though slow. Could it be isp problem? I am using Telkom.

Could perhaps be a DNS issue? Try switching to a different DNS from what you're using now.

if you browse to http://za.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ you cannot access the ubuntu folder, no idea if this is normal or not.

The problem I have is I have like 15 production servers that needed changing... fml

here is a list of mirrors in SA

An MTR shows Liquid Telecom I don't know if they are the ones that manage the mirror or if there is anyone from Liquid telecom here that can give some insight.

Had the same issue when deploying new Ubuntu servers yesterday, I just changed the sources file from ZA to UK

All sorted.

You really should be controlling your sources list with something like Ansible --> adjust playbook --> execute it --> relax.

No need to go and log in to 15 servers sequentially to make a manual change :X3:

Was having issues a few weeks back on my kubuntu desktop. Changed to the uct one and have forgotten about it

Old thread, I know. But have anyone noticed bad instability and speeds from za.archive.ubuntu.com. Seems it is resolving to servers with a ping of sometimes 800+ ms and packet loss
