So I know having an exact match domain with .co.za is probably the best option to go for if you want to get ranked first in google.co.za , but what about .za.net?

Although your domain name helps it cannot guarantee anything in Google Search Results

Rather leave the za.net take your current site and work on the following

- Your Social Networking Aspects
- Linking with sites similiar to yours as well as with a page rank of minimum about 2
- Write Articles, Create a Blog
- Work on your current site contents
- Sign up for Google Web master tools ( Submit sitemap) and create a Analytics Account

Small tips like for example your keywords on your home page place this in Bold

When linking to sites do as follow

Instead of www.google.co.za

Do it as follow the best search engine

These are just a few but remember contents is king and regular updating your site

Yeah I generally know how SEO works. I know an exact match domain can make it a lot easier to rank though, especially if its a .co.za domain and you want to rank for google.co.za . So what I want to know is whether Google would consider .za.net as being a South African tld.

I am sure it would be seen as a region based domain so yes it would but now the question is how much would this influence your overall ranking

I would go post this on the Google SEO Forum and check what you get

Ok cool, will check it out. I have done some .co.za websites where they are literally ranked on page 2 one day after I set it up.
