If you do a conversion on xe.com, the price of their 80GB is about R3588 (right now).
That model in the US costs R2570

Looks like a warehouse inside, and they've basically got no stock. At this rate they may as well close down and sell online.
It realy pisses me off when retailers are half-arsed about carrying decent stock levels.
What we usually do is order it before hand from Amazon and have it delivered to where we're staying. That way you can often avoid sales tax. In NY that's an extra 8%+ you're saving.Well I'm moving to the UK soon so maybe I'll follow your advice!

Completely off-topic, but when you say cheap flights from London to NY... how much are we talking?
I know Virgin is offering specials for under £270 roundtrip and there are probably other last minute deals available at any given time.
