I was just looking at the Mcbride tape on the Mail and Guardian site (www.mg.co.za/mcbride) and I see the video is served by Zoopy.com.
The banner in the blue title bar of my browser proclaims proudly...
"Zoopy | South Africa's first video and photo sharing social network!"
and I thought, gosh, that must be costing a bit in bandwidth but sho' nuff, a traceroute shows that its actually being hosted in Dallas...obviously putting that bit more strain on ZA int bandwidth. Thanks Telkom.

What would be cool is if these site could be hosted locally. Then one could pay R70 for 10GB. Damn, this sucks. :(

Yeah like myvideo.co.za its also hosted in the states, quite sad that we cant even get something link that going locally

On one of my websites the monthly bandwidth usage is around 6 to 10 gigs per month and my website doesn't get that many hits, just a few hundred per day. I mostly have pics and a few videos.

Imagine how much their bandwidth usage must be just hosting videos...

If this could have been hosted locally it would have been great! Unfortunately it means close to nothing to us because it is hosted overseas. Why go Zooty if you can go YouTube? The only advantage would have been if it were local! I'd smoke that site daily with hits if it were in SA.
