Has anyone else seen Zambezia yet? The South African made CG animation film?
Well we did and we kinda thought it was disappointing - (our review - http://www.fortressofsolitude.co.za/Movie-detail/zambezia/)
I'd like to know what other people thought of it. There has been a lot of positive media about the film. But in all honesty, I think most reviewers are saying it's great simply because they are being patriotic about the film. A number of people on twitter said our review was too harsh. Was it? I don't think so. SA's standard shouldn't be below the rest of the world's when it comes to film. Not even animation film.
I've seen a number of Vimeo short films or features made by students that offer better stories and CG. Zambezia is now titled "South Africa's most successful film". I'm not sure if this in terms of box office sales or audiences responses.
