My zapper has started to become intermittent with my DSD 1110 decoder. Refreshing the batteries doesn't help -- it still sometimes just fails to communicate entirely with the decoder, necessitating a reboot. The controls on the actual decoder work perfectly.

I don't have access to another zapper to test. Is it fairly safe to assume that the problem lies with the remote controller itself and not in the receiving end in the decoder? Or does anyone have any suggestions for a fix? Tks!

I think it is just pissed off being called a zapper. Call it a remote control for a week and maybe it will forgive you and start working again.

There are issues with old remotes functioning with decoders since dstv did their round of upgrades. If you google a bit you'll see that multichoice is recommending u replace the remote.

Interestingly I noticed last night that the remote control (The Device Formerly Known As Zapper....) IS actually communicating with the decoder. When you press the buttons on the remote, the display on the decoder flickers slightly acknowledging receipt, but nothing happens.

I've checked out the suggested post, thanks, and will try a factory reset tonight.
