zee.za.net launched

Sever is offline atm, busy changing some stuff... You'll enjoy the new one more...

Once it's up I'll post here, let me know if it works then please.

What's in it for me? When it starts getting some decent traffic I'm hoping to sell advertising on it, failing that, I'm going to have to put popups on it, which I really don't want to do...Going to let it run for a few months before I try make any money off it...

Sounds similar to zaPortal and to give you heads up that it is hardly a successful business model. You will be spending money on something that is most likely not going to bring you any money in for 6-9 months. But i wish you good luck!

Server back online.

I don't really care about making a profit, as long as I can cover my costs I'll keep it up...The idea is to help people out, in a legal way...

Yes there are similarities between my service and ZAPortal, thats because when his got taken down I decided SA needs another one. Mine does not allow downloads and restricts the sites you can visit, by doing this I am able to make sure that I can pay for the bandwidth at the end of the month...

Any problems please let me know, and if you're still having problems accessing it with local only let me know too, it must be the domain then, we'll just have to wait until mine is finally propogated

Still can't access on local. Any idea how long till the new local domain will be up?

Your request for a status update on the domain zee.za.net produced the following results:

Your new request for zee.za.net is currently at number 264 in the queue (received at 16:50 on Sep 4 2009).

There are 293 request(s) in the queue.

Try this one: http://zeezanet.co.cc

If that doesn't work someone is going to have to tell me the nameservers for webafrica

No, joy with that one either. Hopefully someone from Web Africa is on the forum to help you out.

Site loads up after a couple of seconds, but menu bar does not load up. "Waiting for control7.wadns.net..." in the taskbar. Managed to hover my mouse over till I found a hyperlink. The facebook connection times out inside its frame.

Menu bar or the side bar? Try refreshing. I think webafrica is having a problem right now because I can't access my control panel on their server, it just loads and loads...site also really slow on my side now...But try refresh it and let me know...

I think you need to change your ISP/Host company...

Webafrica are doing alot of upgrades due to them becoming a Tier1 ISP, so that could be the main reason for the problems

I seriously admire you guys that try to stick it to the man. I just hope this is 100% legit... you can't help being skeptic after the whole ZAPortal fiasco. But, I will support anyone that tries to change these crappy bandwidth prices in this country!

I wish you the best iPirate!! Hi 5!!

i wanna try out the site!

PS: I didn't know you were going to "mirror" these sites - i thought you were going to make ur own "facebook" version or something, lol..

good luck mate

I can't even connect to my ftp now...

Can anyone recommend a host with servers in SA?

This is NOT a free local proxy.

It's just a site that iframe's international sites. iPirate has no clue. Let's not have a za-portal re-hash happen on these forums. Remember. Java XSS (cross scripting attacks) are very possible, and if zeezanet decides to sniff (via javascript) the site that you have accessed in a frame, your gmail address can be lost etc etc.

Do not support this crap. Also.... It doesn't actually work if you're capped. Because iPirate has no clue.

Wow...That's the reaction people normally get when trying to help?

Obviously you viewed my source....You'd see that there's no script grabbing any info, or did you conveniently miss that?

I thought the iframe would work because the server should load it, not the client...I was wrong, everyone makes mistakes...Like I said in a pm last nnight when we discovered the problem - I'm working on it, the site should have been taken down but I couldn't connect to my ftp to take it down...I'll hopefully get a wroking version up this afternoon...

And with all the accussations of stealing info, how would it benefit me stealing facebook and gmail passwords? Honestly, if you don't feel safe using it then don't. I really don't care, it's there for the people who need it.

Who knows, I might just steal your facebook details and change your password  then what will you do??? Oh my god....You'd have to open a new account, while I get to check out all your friends....

You want to know why I'm trying to do this? This is the one time I'm going to talk about this, so take it all in.

Last year Easter I was in a really bad car crash, the driver was drunk, and I was too drunk to notice. We went through a red light, got clipped by a bmw (according to the report), rolled 12 times (we were doing approx 160kmh) and hit a tree upside down. I was trapped in the car because my side hit the tree, the driver was able to get out and walk away. Long story short, I shattered the bottom half of my spine. I was in hospital for a good many weeks, being stuck in bed with nothing but a laptop sucks. I thoguht then how useful it'd be if there was actually something we could do with local bandwidth, besides news servers.

I only started walking again in March, it took 5 operations, a lot of steel and more pain than most of you could imagine.

Because of all the therapy and stuff, I was only able to open the service now because I finally have some extra cash...

I got more operations planned, so trust me, I've got better things to worry about than stealing passwords for email and facebook...

Site will be back up soon.

Once the proper domain name has been propogated, zee.za.net will be back.

Damn, that was rough. Hope you get better soon.

Thanks for telling your story. I hope that the guys here take notice of the results of drinking and driving.

Don't bother yourself with all the negative comments posted here - most of these guys are lazy bums who have never made a positive contribution to society and probably never will.
