Just wanted to know when the Zest Mobile data is set to expire, can't find any info on the clientzone.

I asked Afrihost heldesk when mine expires and they said end June.

It will depend on when you signed-up for the Zest, but most of those that signed-up at release will see their data expiring at the end of June. If you want me to double-check I'll just need you to send me a PM with your details.

Will you be having any retention special for the Zest T1 owners?
That 2.5GB for R99 & 7.5GB nighttime offer with Telkom mobile is looking very tempting..

My Zest T1 is currently working very well as a very expensive paper weight. After returning it twice to Afrihost I have just given up on it. Lesson learnt.

:(

Very important lessons were learned from the Zest, and going forward we'll be handling cellular devices significantly differently.

What has the problem been with your Zest?

mine is the lack of battery management.

I will charge my phone and it shows 90% power and then it just switches itself off and when you try and switch it back on again it shows battery at 1%.

Also my phone is one of the original Zests and so it lacks space on the phone. I don't have that many apps on my phone but still clash of clans needed an update and it told me I don't have enough space to do the update.

+1.

Will never go near a zest (spits in bucket) again.

I have three of them

Strange. I bought one on day one of the promo & it's been faultless.
Been looking around but there's bugger all to replace it with better specs unless you spend over R2000.
It'll do for another 6 months at least.

The problem is it doesn't work! It's as dead as a dodo. Every time I sent it back to Afrihost, there was some excuse about battery terminals, or bad connections or whatever. Each time I got it back it worked for a day or 2 then died again. Now it's completely dead. Doesn't matter what I do. I've tried a new battery. I've checked that the battery terminals are connected, nothing works. It's the absolutely last time I ever buy a device from an unknown brand. I thought I could trust it because Afrihost put its name and reputation behind it. Turned out I was wrong.

My phone is a paperweight too. Too many battery issues. Mom's phone has the storage space problem too, she only really uses Whatsapp.

I won't buy another no name brand again....unless it's the Qualcomm reference design which they hinted at last year. That would be awesome. Snapdragon 810 instead of the the mediatek bugset that cannot run Google Maps for crying out loud.

I really like my phone,as a spare, but the 850Mhz 3G does not work in my area.We are 900Mhz so data is sooo slow!!

Funniest thing...after my rant on Friday, I decided to give my Zest T1 to my gardener. He's been looking for a cheap smartphone, so I gave it to him and told him not to get his hopes up too high, I doubt it can be fixed but maybe he knows someone. Yesterday he comes to visit me to thank me for his new smartphone, tells me he took it to one of those dodgy cellphone shop/kiosk type places, and some Indian guy fixed it for R150! He showed it to me and it's working 100% now. I have no idea how they fixed it, but I'm glad somebody could get some use out of it. I certainly never want that thing to darken my doorstep again.

I have 3 of which one has already been back and replaced and now that one and a second are an absolute mission to charge. The charging ports are loose and they don't hold the charge. You have to carefully place them in a certain position and if you bump it, no charge in the morning. Not happy!
