Zimbabwe's ambassador to Australia has defected and asked Canberra for asylum, saying she will not be returning home when her term ends next week due to fears for her safety, reports said early Saturday.

"Once the elections of 31 July were stolen by the current government --which is illegitimate -- I knew that this was the end of the line," Jacqueline Zwambila said in a video posted on the Canberra Times website.

"I don't feel safe about returning to Zimbabwe at all."

Maybe she accidently said the wrong thing to the wrong person and the brown crud is coming home to roost. Or, as I mostly suspect, the thought of returning to the steaming pile of turd that is Africa after living in a first world country is not something that pleases her.

Since when is Australia a first world country? Eitherway, that deserter bitch should be shot without a trial. She is a disgrace to Africa.

Outpourings of the most civilised African. Yes, there is much hope for Africa with enlightened attitudes such as this.

O RLY.

A disgrace you say.

I would like to tell you what the real disgrace is, but then I would be overrun with retaliatory posts till next year.

Oh yes, such a hard decision. Return to Africa rife with "Africaner" philosophy or deal with the eccentricities of the Aussies and their colonial tendencies. Decisions, decisions.

Yip IMO she is a two faced politician. All was fine and she supported Robert snd now her term is up she shouts defect. What damage has she done during her term of support. Surely she should be held accountable and sent packing from Australia.

Didn't want to go home to eat sand and braaied rats. Cos that's all there is to eat in Zimbabwe.

THE PAIN OF BEING A ZIMBABWE DIPLOMAT

Some Zimbabwean diplomats have suffered the humiliation of being ejected from their rented houses abroad after the government failed to pay them.

Some reportedly getting stuck in foreign lands at the expiry of their tour of duty as Government fails to secure money for their return home. Some diplomats’ children faced the risk of being thrown out of school as Treasury takes long to disburse money.

South Africa, like many other countries having the misfortune of hosting a zimbabwe diplomatic mission, pays for the upkeep of the mission & it's various expenses.

Is that Zim building still there? I thought it had been condemned. Still, a shop in Victoria Road Southfield was condemned 11 years ago and is still in use. It depends on who you know...
