Hi

After learning that Zoom can use my personal data for machine learning and AI purposes, I am keen to give it the boot. I came across a good deal for a platform called Sessions on Appsumo and it looks decent.

Has anyone given it a try yet?

Would love to hear of any experience with it or other tools.

Thanks.

Zoom alternatives?

I've had very good call quality on Google Meet and find Teams to be one of the easier to use. Of course skype is a long time contender and is way better now with a web client as well... but as for using your data - that's going to be something they likely all do.

Anything free is going to use and share your data. Sometimes a paid solution is better. You get protection then.
Maybe

The fact that you're on Appsumo tells me that you also enjoy trying new apps/alternatives to the mainstream :)
I used Butter for a while, but it was not professional enough for my needs, so I moved across to Sessions. Loving it, especially the fact that they have bookings/scheduling, so I don't need Calendly anymore. Why don't you try out the free version first, and if you like it, you could go for the Appsumo deal or a paid acc? That's what I would do at least.

Surprised anyone still uses Zoom
Teams has killed it in the Enterprise space

there never was competition between the 2 applications. All the noise about how good Zoom was , was from all the nooblets.Time has proved it ....
To be fair, outside of conference calls, Teams is pretty **** too
You'd think with all of MS resources they'd be able to cook up a half decent collaboration app

My colleagues and I call each other from time to time, in addition to Zoom, we also use Telegram or Google Meet.

Teams is arguably a very sophisticated collaboration platform - it is integrated and underpinned by the M365 platform which gives it a definite advantage over something like Zoom or Slack.

For instance when you create a Team, it maps the Team and its Channels to a Sharepoint Team site where you can organise and collaborate on your files in realtime. This is just one example.

I can tell you from reviewing M365 usage reports that most (normal) people use Teams as a combination of Whatsapp and Skype but it's actually much more than that.

Exactly , teams is integrated into all the o365 applications. You cant even compare it to Zoom and Slack. Its the reason why its so dog slow because in the background its connecting to to so many other o365 resources.

Can't say I notice Teams being especially slow but then maybe I'm just attuned to it

Yeah I get that but Teams 'Teams' is clunky and not pleasant to use (which is probably why your usage reports are also the way they are)

We have gsuite, slack and teams in our org and hardly anyone uses teams for anything other than conferencing & calls, and gsuite+slack are HEAVILY used for collab

Teams is horrible if you work outside your org. I have 4 clients who use teams and 4 browser instances to integrate with them. Cant run them all on the same desktop app. Oye.

In our case it's a user education thing. They are just normal end users, not technical, and as a small IT team we have had limited bandwidth to promote some of the better ways of working with M365. We were planning an M365 adoption program but with the pandemic and other priorities in the business it got put on the back burner.

Yeah switching between Teams accounts in different tenants isn't the best. I don't usually have many issues working with external users from my primary account though.

Everybody likes using their own accounts and many don't allow external entities to access company resources. You have to use the login provided by them which they have control over.

Ah yes the days good old days of zoom and slack for remote teams before the covid plague.

Was quite progressive at the time. Sigh, now I have to use this M$ dwang.

I may not like Teams as anything more than a meetings app, but it beats Zoom hands down every time for meetings.

Why? And don’t tell me for the 360 integration.
