After months of squinting at my 3D Cad program, where the toolbars take up half of my screen real estate, I have decided to go full retard with 27"s.

But when I'm in gmail (in google chrome) I would prefer the web page to be about 17"s wide. I think what would look the best is like when you zoom a PDF out and get 2 dark strips down the sides of the screen with the white page in the middle.

All my attempts in Chrome and Firefox only reduce the size of the text - the page stays edge to edge. Any ideas on how to make this work?

I would prefer to get it to work on a single screen config. as opposed to having my web browser open on a separate screen.

Hold down Ctrl and scroll mouse wheel down?

It does work in gmail, im using the terminal theme if that helps?

Alternatively resize your Chrome window to the size you want to see (i.e. full screen height with borders on each side, then ctrl mouse wheel to set the zoom level preference).
