Well a quick search of the forum yielded no results so I hope I'm not jumping the gun here with this thread.

Was looking through Cell C's latest pamphlet and saw the following deal:
RVuicp5.png

This is the first time I've heard of this brand, and Cell C lists literally zero specs besides noting that the phone is dual SIM, so I did a short google search to try and find the exact model. GSMArena lists two phones with that particular aesthetic, notably the

ZTE Grand S:
Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 200
Adreno 320
13 MP, 4128 x 3096 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, 1080p Video
16 GB storage, 2 GB RAM
1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.0 inches (~441 ppi pixel density), IPS LCD Display
Android OS, v4.1 (Jelly Bean)
Non-removable Li-Ion 1780 mAh battery

and the

ZTE Grand SII:
Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400
Adreno 330
13 MP, 4128 x 3096 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, 1080p Video
16 GB storage, 2 GB RAM
1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.5 inches (~401 ppi pixel density), IPS LCD
Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean)
Non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume the R249 deal is the Grand SII and the R229 deal is for the Grand S. Those specs seem pretty solid for the price to me but then again I'm no expert so I decided to make this thread and get some input from you guys.
Does it seem like a good price? Has anyone here gotten one of these phones and if so how was your experience with them? Any comments on screen quality, and perhaps some screenshots of battery life you've been getting out of the phone? Can anyone confirm that these are in fact the correct models?

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I'm itching for an upgrade from my current device and these look like they might be what I'm looking for :)

Don't know about their phones but I chuck my ZTE modem into a cupboard and am using my E220 again. Will never touch ZTE again.

My first thought is Chinese, my second thought is big HD screen, small battery.

I'd keep shopping.

EDIT: I'm assuming you are considering the S. Either way, point 1 still dictates.

Agreed. Avoid

First few replies not too promising lol. Been trying to find some reviews on both devices and I must say most of them are rather poorly done. Reviewers don't go much further than simply listing the spec sheet which truth be told doesn't help anyone. Few bits of helpful info I could glean were that:

1. Build quality leaves much to be desired due to plastic.
2. Interface seems more sluggish than it should be considering the internals of this thing.
3. Screen's maximum brightness isn't the best. (Meaning poor outdoor visibility)

Thinking I'll have to make a turn at my local Cell C branch in the hopes they have a demo unit at hand. Could then judge the 3 points above for myself.

Overall i wouldn't recommend it as an "upgrade" for anything other than a entry level Android.
But it is a solid phone

Well that's just a grand disappointment if they're referring to that model. Those specs are far less enticing.
