Hi Guys,
I got this router with afrihost fixed LTE.

The URL setting doesn't block anything and I cannot find a place to add a static DNS address so I can use opendns to block domains.

I have to set a static DNS on the actual phone for it to work but there is no where in the router to do it

Any suggestions

I also need to set STATIC DNS's on this Router but cannot find the place in the router config to do just that :-(

Just set it as static on the device(s) that connects via the router.

This is indeed a workaround to the POOR user interface implementation on the ZTE MF286 Router.
But not practical if the number of devices that connects to the router is very dynamic and changing all the TIME!
From internet searched it's apparent that older ZTE routers did allow you to set static DNS at the ROUTER level, but the MF286 DOES NOT! This was the first and will be the last ZTE router that I have and will ever purchase!

I am about to sign up for MTN LTE, so my question is - can one choose the router? Or are you forced to use that.

I will use my Ubiquity router for all my internal clients anyway, so the MTN router will just be another hop, but if it's crap - i'd like to choose something else that is supported..

Or do we need to buy them ourselves if we want something else.....

My company resells Internet access and my understanding is that the NEW MTN LTE connections require a "Cat6" LTE router. The list of "Cat6" routers available locally is growing fast.
HUAWEI has a few models and MikroTik have NEW OUTDOOR models with integrated directional LTE antennas. Most ISP does not offer MikroTik devices and in fact, exclude them from the list of "compatible" routers.
I, however, believe the distributors for MikroTik will be able to confirm compatibility.
A weatherproof outdoor LTE router with directional antenna is a must get if you have potential poor LTE signal at your location!
It's important to note most of the MikroTik Outdoor LTE routers exclude WiFi capability. IE You will need to purchase another WiFi device to provide WiFi coverage in your building.

You have to use a Cat6 router. Any other router and Axxess/MTN will block you. Then you will need to go and get it unlocked only after you purchase the authorised router

If you want to do anything fancy with your LTE connection you need to get a second router like a Mikrotik, and just use the LTE router for connecting to the network. Most of these LTE routers lack even the most basic configuration settings.

Thanks guys - in the end i took the cheap route and got the Telkom LTE sim only deal ( 220+220 ) with Axxess, and im going to use my existing B315 with it.

If it sux big time, i will just cancel it and go the MTN route ( no pun ) and see how that goes.

Cheers

If you use the b315 it will block you and you will have to get the SIM unblocked. I have got rain and axxess MTN. I use the rain for 11 to 6pm and the MTN 6pm to 11pm. I use the b315 for the rain and the ZTE MF286 for MTN.

I'm not going to use it on MTN - it will be used on TELKOM.

Hi All.

I remember that with my Hauwei B315 i also struggled to find the setting for a primary and secondary DNS entry but eventually got the solution.
It turns out that for some reason the router has been altered to not show these options as availible under the WLAN/DHCP page where you would expect them to be. I then open "Chrome Dev Tools" (F12) and in the console typed the following to gain access:

$('#dhcp_dns_statistic').show();
$('#dhcp_primary_dns').show();
$('#dhcp_secondary_dns').show();

Unfortunatly with my new ZTE MF286C I have not yet been able to replicate this. Anybody else had success?
