Zuma’s 0% order

None in my entire IT/Engineering department were part of that. There haven't been any protests at my campus either (Cape Town CPUT).

Yeah, I get not everyone is involved, some understand the privilege of being able to get a tertiary education and get that tens of thousands would kill to be there position. The rest though, waste of space, there to party, cause **** and take selfies.

Does he just wake up and make these decisions on his own? I am very sure the President of our country has advisors on standby, ready to assist him with the pros and cons of every decision that he wants to make.

Then again, he is probably just lashing out like an upset child over the "defeat" of the ANC in the most recent municipal elections. Shame Jacob Zuma, stop acting like the idiot we all know you are!

Yip - the ANC is attempting to become a populist party in order to get back voters...

Don't joke, we might get taxed more to pay for this :O

It's by far a tiny minority that are striking, maybe 100/200 per campus.
E.g. CPUT has a student population of 32,000; UCT: 26,357; UWC 15,226, etc.

We will get taxed more.

I wish there was a union for tax payers. If we stop paying tax out of protest the anc will realise who has the power.

Okay, so heres a question. Why are 26000 students at UCT for example allowing a 'tiny minority' to threaten their futures? 26000 vs 200. 26000 pks will stop classes etc being interrupted in no time. Why aren't the 26000 speaking up and shutting these f***ers down?

So you want them go to the streets and start beating people up who are protesting? That's a bit of a dumb expectation.

No(pks would do it though:)) , they can speak up for starters... their universities are going to be shut down, and they doing nothing. You say its a tiny minority, well, something then needs to be done

Edit: As said originally, close em all... argument is 'what about those who study/hard work etc', well, they don't seem to care either if they are letting a handful dictate their futures /shrug

You do realize there are a lot of people who speak up but get drowned out by protesters. Whoever shouts loudest wins, and people gainsaying the protest are not reported by the media and most students would also be scared to be targeted if they were to say something.

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

If you are not prepared to speak up then you must suffer in silence.

26000 vs 200

1-5 vs 200 because those 25995 would not feel inclined/be there when he/she gets beaten up.

True. So what can be done? We just let them carry on, the universities close and they have their victory as per my original post(high 5s)?

Let them peacefully protest, if there is a violent protest have the police come in and deal with them, unlike where they just stood idly by doing nothing.
Stop letting them have so much power, I for one would vote an abolishment of the SRC system and instead used a class rep > stream rep > department rep system, that way one can elect the individuals who are communicating with the university rather than electing a political party that has an agenda.

Sell Nkandla. Do a forensic investigation on all tenders, expecially guptas and other instant billionaires...charge them.
