Zuma’s relative shot dead

A close ally and relative of African National Congress leader Jacob Zuma and the direct grandson of the leader of the Bambatha Rebellion was shot dead in Umlazi near Durban on Thursday.

Nkosi Mbongeleni Zondi was a direct descendent of Bambatha Zondi.

He was killed by unidentified gunmen who reportedly followed his car before spraying it with bullets.

“Nkosi Zondi was followed this morning at some point by two vehicles at Umlazi who shot him several times. And according to what information we have it will seem as if people who shot him wanted to be sure that he had been killed, his car is riddled with bullets,” said the ANC’s Jessie Duarte.

KwaZulu Natal Premier Sbu Ndebele was shocked by the killing.

“The premier is confident that the SAPS will soon arrest the perpetrators of this crime and ensure that they are brought to book,” said spokesperson Logan Maistry.

I read that it was 18, but no-one is giving an official figure, maybe because (AFAIK) he did not marry the mothers of all his children.
