I would still like to see what went before.... I will reserve my judgment until then. It's very telling that the video only starts when the goons take action.
But if there was disruption going on before then, then that amounts to censorship, and if that is what Greenpeace was doing then they should know better.

I have already received emails from friends overseas asking if this was normal in South Africa.

I replied that it was pretty much business as usual ... :)
 
And yet if there had been even two able-bodied men there not willing to take ***** then this entire gaggle of cowards would've had a different tune no doubt.

'Volunteers'' employed by the city of Durban at COP17 yesterday slapped and kicked environmental activists who confronted President Jacob Zuma for not standing up for Africa at the climate change talks.

The heavy-handed actions of the "green bombers" - so called by activists because of their green uniforms and aggression - and of unionists, who kicked an activist, were in full view of the world's media.

After Zuma had told the activists at a report-back session in the Durban City Hall that he felt that it was necessary for him to interact with civil society, pandemonium broke out when placards calling on him to "ditch Europe and the US" and not "let Africa fry" were held up.

The volunteers and Zuma's bodyguards pulled the placards from the activists and tore them up.

When the activists demanded that they be allowed to hold up their placards as part of their interaction with Zuma, the volunteers pushed and slapped them while trying to throw them out of the hall. A group of people, wearing SA Municipal Workers' Union T-shirts, then started singing in support of Zuma.

Zuma did not intervene in the scuffle but had a clear view of the assault on local climate activist Rehad Desai, who was slapped by a volunteer and then pushed to the ground when he called for the president to stand up for Africa.

After Desai fell, the unionists formed a ring around him and kicked him as they sang.

Ja, it definitely looks bad, and I think the world media will condemn this.

But I would still like to see the rest of the video. I feel I have only been presented with half the story.

Why could they not include the first part of the video? Is there something they don't want us to see?

Or maybe there is nothing to see. The interest is in the action, if nothing was happening before then there would be no reason to show it.

If something did happen and they dont show it then they are as bad as the hooligans they where filming.

Of course there is something to see. I want to see the protesters peacefully displaying their banners while silent. I would prefer to make that determination myself.
As it is we got to see nothing of the protest action itself. That is not nothing... it is the whole cause for the ruckus.

From the body language of the supporters up in the gallery in the beginning of the video. They seem very docile and peaceful to me. Simply sitting there with their signs hanging over the edge of the railing. I understand and agree with wanting more information. But as things look from the video. None of the protesters were making a noise, none of them seemed confrontational when the signs were taken from them. The mark of a peaceful protest right there. If they were noisy, they would have been worked up a little and would have gotten a little more passionate when their signs were taken.

From what is seen in the vid, and what we can infer from who the violent antagonists are, its a safe bet that no huge distractions were caused by the protestors.

You also need to ask yourself; even if they were a little noisy, barring toy toy dancing and singing (As the Zuma supporters were seen doing towards the end of the video); Is that any justification to taking the signs away in a democratic country where freedom of speech is meant to be honoured?

The answer is a flat NO. So while I admire your restraint in jumping to conclusions before all the facts are out. I think that your restraint in this case is a little misplaced .
 
Disgraceful. So they start shoving and try to smack and pull the people while singing and dancing....? What a great image these people portray about SA.

I just watched the video, Zuma is a spineless IDIOT and my hatred for him and his party only grows!

Well people like him had a lot to say so I am entitled to show that they may be wrong and the direction we are headed. Maybe if blind Zombie ANC supporters opened their eyees then we would not have to say "I told you so". Oh and it is not every thread, just threads about the direction the ANC regime are taking us.
Time to wake up and smell the kark we are being fed

Thank you! That's my sentiment!

Bedik says that investors will not take a liking to this, and that is a valid argument.
Here comes this clown that labels anyone who disagrees with him as someone "who needs to grow up" and "see the facts".

Not to mention he several times claimed me of all people being an ANC supporter, regardless of the fact I've told this illiterate person multiple times to the contrary, or my posts in CA where I'm vehemently against everything the ANC does.
