PARLIAMENT - National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete has agreed to a Democratic Alliance request to schedule a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

Mbete, in a letter to DA leader Mmusi Maimane, said the motion would be published in the first available order paper of the year and that she was consulting with the leader of government business, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, and the chief whip of the ANC so as to schedule a debate “within a reasonable period given the programme of the Assembly”.

Well heres some breaking news ..... and the timing couldnt be worse for Jacob Zuma or the ANC.

I'm holding thumbs that the motion of no confidence will be passed in parliament, although it feels more like pipe dream, because what the ANC wants, they get.

It's Zuma that controls the ANC. Leadership is scarse, they've been giving him what he wants and when he wants it.

The DA raises these motions as it is their moral duty to do so as the official opposition, but knowing full well that since ANC MPs must vote according to party instructions or get sacked (great democratic system we have, right?) the effort is futile.

Would be interesting. I reckon if they allow it he will be gone.

Heard Zuma in an interview today saying he never said he will run a 3rd term and the ANC will decide who runs , I think he was implying the ANC will elect him to run a 3rd term, we all know the ANC has been handpicked by him sooo

No, it isn't. It is an open ballot, although I think the speaker can rule that it must be anonymous but I think that would be highly unlikely.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the ANC boys vote against him if it were anonymous, will not be a majority but its a start.

A noble but ultimately fruitless exercise. Expect number 1 to sit there with a smug look on his face pushing his glasses up with his middle finger.

"Pipe dream" is the understatement of the century, there is a bigger chance of flying pigs playing ice hockey in hell against rainbow farting unicorns than the ANC ever voting against zumatello ... sadly

By getting rid of him it will guarantee that they keep Gauteng in the elections.

He will be outed if a no confidence goes ahead.
