Cape Town - President Jacob Zuma is to take time off to rest from Wednesday to next week, his office said on Tuesday.

Zuma would be replaced by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe and ministers in some key engagements, the presidency said in a statement.

Motlanthe would attend the Afro-Arab Summit over the weekend in Libya.

The presentation of letters of credence by new ambassadors and high commissioners scheduled for Wednesday would be rescheduled.

Minister in the presidency Collins Chabane would officiate at the launch of Volume 4 of the Road to Democracy Series produced by the SA Democracy Education Trust at the presidential guest house in Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon.

Further announcements would follow regarding other public engagements, the presidency said.
