South Africa, a key UN Security Council member, "fully supports" the Palestinian bid for full membership of the United Nations, President Jacob Zuma said Wednesday.

The United States has vowed to veto any Palestinian bid. But Zuma told the UN General Assembly that Palestinian membership would be "a decisive step towards achieving lasting peace".

"South Africa fully supports this position," he said.

LOL. Does this surprise anyone ?

Is SA just supporting this because they hate the West ?

In the article they say they are supporting this to achieve peace in the middle east, but South Africa didn't accept the state of South Sudan until recently.

They listen to the US and israel who support dictators, am i mistaken in thinking Mubarak was a dictator well supported by the israeli's and the US? who is now up on corruption charges or is that different to other countries who do it because it's the US and israel?

Do you see Mugabe, Qaddafi or Burmese Junta on trial? I didnt see America rushing to Murabak`s defense like I saw Zuma crawling up Qaddafi `s ass. In fact, I saw america openly supporting the Egyptian rebels and telling Murbarak to step down and listen to the people... but I suppose in the blind faith based hate against Americans and Jews...people dont see that.

There were no rebels in egypt, you are confusing egypt with liyba. The people of egypt stood up against the dictator supported by the US and israel, not much the US could do about it when the entire country turned against him.

What are you harping on about, every single country, including south africa, that had an embassy in egypt supported mubaraks regime. What do you expect israel to have done, declared war and overthrown mubarak? yeh that would of gone down well.

Dude i think you need to read the thread instead of selecting what you think is right. Well the US has called for many governments to go yet they support dictators when it suites their needs. So being all high and mighty about who supports dictators is fairly silly.

Please show UN resolutions or Arab league resolutions or EU or African Union resolutions calling for his removal or for democracy in Egypt.

Zuma still supported gadaffi after the UN and Nato and the Arab league called for his removal, that is the problem with Zuma - still supports syrias Assad as well, go team SA.

This forum has a really strong hidden pro-Israel leaning. Every thread about Palestine (& maybe anti-Israel) gets voted down quickly, it appears to make the Israeli supporters very uncomfortable attacking the individual very quickly in hopes of killing the thread.

This move by Palestine appears to have made Israeli wake up a bit, I mean Netanyahu offered direct talks with Abbas - and he's only thinking this now. The move is working however ill-advised some think it. I guess Israel want to avoid being an outright occupier at all costs!

Nto paranoid it just always seem to end up with jew hating somewhere along the line, some people can never argue a point without the jew hater remark. It just gets annoying when i see it and if it was not directed at me or people who talk out about the american and israeli government then i apologize. As hard rain says some may not support the US or israel but that does automatically mean that people hate jews and americans.

It's that kind of nonsense that spreads hatred and racism.
