I bought a ZyXEL ADSL (N 150) router from Matrix computers for about R500. [VDSL modem about double the price]

It has 4 x RJ45 Lan connectors (and the DSL RJ11 connection of course) and Wifi/WPS (2.4GHz) with builtin firewall, QoS, NAT and some other features.

Setting it up as a Wireless router was easy enough, but reach is not long-range (small to medium homes only according to them).

My ADSL has not been installed as of yet, so I can't comment regarding that.

Anybody had good or bad experiences with this modem/router ?

Thanks

I've tried the more expensive one, the VMG1312-B10A (N300).

It's very reliable & fast, though you might want to use Chrome browser to access the menus. It has a problem with Firefox for some reason.

I've had my Zyxel VDSL router I bought from WebAfrica last year replaced twice, and it just died again last week. Absolute piece of crap. Back to my old trusty Netgear which is like 10 years old and still works flawlessly.

I take it you don't have VDSL then? If you do the Pace VDSL routers are excellent.

Yeah not yet, but should get it in my area this year apparently so I was attempting to future proof with the Zyxel. Thanks I'll keep Pace in mind.

I have a ZyXEL VDSL router at home, the cheaper black one, as well as the ADSL router, and both work 100% fine. I see some post with people having issues, but I personally had none of those. Pretty much turned it on, configured it, and forgot about it completely, it just works.

It stays up too. Did you have the minor issue with Firefox at all?
