Kyalami race track’s massive upgrades

Kyalami header

July 2015 marked one year since the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit was put on auction and snapped up Porsche South Africa CEO, Toby Venter, for R205 million.

Since then, a lot has happened at the racing complex, including the start of a refurbishment programme which was announced in May.

The track will be resurfaced to “international specifications”, the main straight will be lengthened, corners will be modified, and safety upgrades to bring the track to FIA Grade 2 standards will be made.

Upgrades to the pit building and conference facilities will also take place.

The work on the track is expected to be completed by the end of October, and includes a new underpass that will allow easy access to central part of the racing complex.

The underpass will include a pedestrian walkway.
