Google App search launched
Google announced on Thursday, 5 December 2013, that it has updated its Google Search app for Android to search within apps and return apps in search results.
Scott Huffman, VP of engineering at Google wrote in a blog post that searching within apps is available within a select number of apps, with more promised in “the coming months”.
AllTrails, Allthecooks, Beautylish, Etsy, Expedia, Flixster, Healthtap, IMDb, Moviefone, Newegg, OpenTable, Trulia, and Wikipedia are supported at launch.
Google warned that it may take a day or two for the “Open in app” button to appear in your search results after you download one of these apps.
Developers can add their apps to Google’s search results by signing up for Google app indexing, the search giant said.
