ICASA calls urgent meeting on telecoms costs
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) today confirmed that it has called a meeting with various telecoms players to discuss the cost of telecoms in South Africa. The high interconnect rate is likely to feature highly on the agenda.
According to ICASA spokesperson Sekgoela Sekgoela Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and the Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) have all been asked to attend. Sekgoela was not certain whether Telkom and Neotel were invited as well.
The meeting will start at 10:00am tomorrow, and will be chaired by ICASA. Sekgoela said that ICASA will issue an official statement after the meeting has been concluded.
