Urgent meeting on telecoms costs: ICASA

If Neotel and Telkom are not there the meeting will be fruitless. What kind of reasoning went into this meeting? I bet Telkom is still being politically guarded. FFS!!!

wonder if this meeting is open to the public, I seriously doubt it. If so I think it will be wise for us to take our rightful place and be there to see what kind of crap they can come up with to keep interconnect rates up.

And a massive YES to antowan, if ISPA is invited then it will be very very very stupid to not invite telkom. Almost all ISPA members resell telkom services.

I wonder who gets the BMW and who the Merc ;) But hopefully we the people don't get shafted again...

If it is interconnect related why should Telkom or Neotel be there? They are already losing out to the 3 Cell operators.

Exactly. An exercise in futility:rolleyes:

Telkom not there... Ofcourse not they are the perfect company :)

Fruitless meeting if telkom not there, however we wait to see if any good
Outcome for the benefit of all SA

Number of reasons why this is justa complete waste of our time.

1) Telkom not being there kinda negates any ground made during the meeting as almost all forms of communications (note I said ALMOST) still use a telkom link somewhere in the stream.
2) ICASA is hosting it.
3) They can talk until they are blue in the face, no company is going to voluntarily reduce their profits.
4) ICASA is hosting it.
5) The operators wont reduce prices unless they are forced to and this will never happen as all the operators have varying degrees of state ownership.
6) ICASA is hosting it.

For those 6 reasons I doubt that this is anything more than merely more lip service to get us to shut up and let them get on with leeching the country dry.

Telkom's not here man!
... no, no, it's me, Telkom!
