Absa Internet banking down again

Absa glitch

Absa’s Internet banking services are down once again, a number of users are reporting on social media platforms.

The outage has affected the bank’s web-based Internet banking platform, its mobile apps, and Virgin Money.

“@Absa online banking being unavailable so often is getting beyond ridiculous. Constant tech issues!!” said Twitter user Johan Kruger.

“Looks like all Absa servers are down including stockbroking :(” Karin Richards added.

In replies to complaints on Twitter, Absa said it is aware of the outage and that technicians are attending to it.

Queried by Moneyweb journalist Hanna Barry and Twitter user Brian D on why outages like this happen every month, Absa said there were different reasons.

“Currently our team is trying to find out what caused this,” Absa said. “We apologise for any inconvenience.”

An Absa spokesperson was not immediately able to comment about the downtime and its cause.
