OpenView HD reaches milestone
Platco Digital announced that OpenView HD has reached 200,000 installations and activations since it launched in October 2013.
OpenView HD provides subscribers with free access to its content. All that is needed is the purchase and installation of an OpenView HD decoder and dish.
In July 2014, Ellies, which won the rights to supply decoders for OpenView HD, reported a big drop in earnings citing poor uptake of the free-to-air satellite service. However, things seem to have turned around.
According to Channel24, OpenView HD has already sold 100,000 decoders in this financial year – closing in on its annual target of 170,000 units.
“The growth of OpenView HD is better than expected,” said Platco Digital MD Maxwell Nonge.
