Netflix blocking unlocked and rooted Android devices
The Google Play Store has listed the Netflix app for Android as incompatible for rooted and unlocked smartphones and other devices, Android Police reported.
“With our latest 5.0 release, we now fully rely on the Widevine DRM provided by Google; therefore, many devices that are not Google-certified or have been altered will no longer work with our latest app,” said Netflix.
However, the report stated that the app continued to work on devices where it was already installed.
Android Police said it isn’t clear why the Play Store listing is blocked while the app itself continues to work normally.
