Netflix blocking unlocked and rooted Android devices

The Google Play Store has listed the Netflix app for Android as incompatible for rooted and unlocked smartphones and other devices, Android Police reported.

Install Magisk Manager if you're rooted and this won't be a problem. SafetyNet checks will pass just fine. Super Mario Run also does this crap.

Super Mario Run = junk. It's an online game, not interested in online games.

Yeah it sucks. Just saying it also uses the same protection.

If you want similar games that don't suck, check out the mobile Rayman games. They're amazing.

I'm not rooted and only have an unlocked bootloader. Does that mean I have to root if I want to get around this? Seems simpler just to sideload the apk.

Just download Magisk Manager and see if you pass the SafetyNet check.

Last time I tried the DSTV's App does the same thing when you install it on a rooted device. It feels insulting that they lock things down like this. What, don't they trust us?

Haven't had that issue in a very long time. Over a year probably. And again, just install Magisk Manager to bypass the SafetyNet check.

The Netflix app works on my MyGica ATV585, but when I opened it, it asked if I wanted to update. According to Google Play, the update is not compatible with my device. Not sure if this is related.

I'm not rooted on this phone so can't use it.

Installation Instructions
Before Magisk installs anything on your device, it will create a boot image backup in /data/stock_boot_<sha1>.img.gz
If anything goes wrong (e.g. bootloop), you can either use the uninstaller (recommended) or decompress the backup and manually restore your boot image
It should ALWAYS bring your device back to life (suppose you have a custom recovery that can decrypt your /data)

If you're already rooted with MagiskSU or Latest Official Systemless SuperSU

Install/upgrade Magisk Manager from Play Store
Install/upgrade Magisk as prompted in the application
Reboot and you're done!!

If you're not rooted, or something went wrong and you need a clean start

(Recommended) Restore your boot image back to stock (flash uninstaller if Magisk is previously installed)
Download the latest Magisk zip file
Reboot to a custom recovery
If you choose to use SuperSU (only support Android 6.0+), flash SuperSU in systemless mode now
Flash Magisk zip
Reboot. Update the stub Magisk Manager to the latest from Play Store

It takes a few days before previously blocked listings in the Play Store are unblocked. Just keep Magisk installed if you're rooted and before long things will look normal.

Rooted users are ordinarily unable to even view the Super Mario Run listing, so yeah, probably related.

Magisk Manager off the Play Store handles everything. No need for any extra effort.

I download "stuff" from a well known streaming site on a rooted phone (offline play). Stuff I can't source elsewhere. That is why...
