DStv downtime – fix issued
Important update: MultiChoice has provided an official fix different from the one outlined below, and explained why most people are complaining about service interruptions today.
A number of DStv subscribers have taken to Twitter and Facebook to complain that they are only able to view a blue “loading” screen showing the DStv logo.
Subscribers are also reporting that they are unable to get through to the DStv call centre.
Attempts to reach the DStv call centre on its mobile, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town numbers from the MyBroadband offices were unsuccessful.
The DStv support account on Twitter, @DStvCare, has apologised to subscribers for the call centre downtime, saying that its technical team is working on the issue.

DStv blue screen and call centre issues
To users complaining about the blue screen issue, the satellite pay TV operator suggested the following fix.
On your DStv remote press:
- Menu
- OK
- OK
- ‘i’
- 7
- 1234
Update: As pointed out by MyBroadband forum user Quantum Theory, the above procedure will reset the decoder to its factory default settings. This will result in the loss of all personalised settings such as XtraView, parental guidance settings, and scheduled recordings.
