SuperSport SD going widescreen
From Tuesday, 4 February 2014, SuperSport will switch its standard definition (SD) channels over to the 16:9 aspect ratio, also known as widescreen format, MultiChoice announced in a press release on Friday, 24 January 2014.
The switch-over brings these SD channels in line with international broadcasting trends and with other channels on the DStv platform, MultiChoice said.
Subscribers on older TVs that don’t support widescreen format will be able to switch to 16:9 letterbox mode.
“This will display the full 16:9 image on your 4:3 screen with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen,” MultiChoice said.
Letterbox mode is available by pressing Shift on the DStv remote, selecting Arc, and then choosing 16:9 letterbox. You can also use make the change from the Menu on your decoder, MultiChoice said.
