Winners and a loser in the computing device war
Vodacom released its latest financial results, which showed a sharp increase in the number of tablets and smartphones on its network. PC connectivity reduced for the second year running.
Vodacom CEO Shameel Joosub said that Vodacom’s active data customers increased from 14 million to 16 million over the last year.
Vodacom’s data growth was supported by a 23.5% increase in the number of active smartphones and tablets to 7.8 million devices.
PC connectivity continued to decline. There are currently 1,117,000 PCs (laptops) on the Vodacom network, down from 1,129,00 a year ago.
