Huge mobile data growth continues

Akamai has released its State of the Internet Q2 2015 report, which shows that global mobile data traffic continues to grow at a rapid rate.
The Akamai report uses insight from mobile vendor Ericsson. Ericsson has a presence in more than 180 countries and its customer base represents more than 1,000 networks, enabling it to measure mobile voice and data volumes.
The result is a representative base from which world mobile traffic on 2G, 3G, and 4G networks (not including DVB-H, Wi-Fi, and Mobile WiMAX) can be calculated.
Data traffic grew around 15% between the first and second quarters of 2015, and increased 55% between the second quarter of 2014 and the second quarter of 2015.
The chart below shows the growth of mobile data and the stagnation of voice traffic over the last few years.
